For A New Beginning

Another year will end, 

A lot of memories will be kept.

Struggles that strengthens me,

Mistakes that enlightens me.

    Doing things without knowledge is a big challenge for me. It's like going to a war without a weapon. I realized that it is better if someone will teach me how to do it, than doing it by my own. It is hard to do something that you do not know and you don't have ang knowledge about it, specially if it is your first time.

     However, as a student it is my responsibility to understand my lessons. 

     Moving on, I will try harder to understand my lessons by my own as much as possible.

A Glorious Night

     Colorful christmas decorations, hanging lanterns, blinding attractive christmas lights, cold breeze, huge christmas trees, mountainous presents... the essence of christmas can be felt everywhere.

      Children wanders and sing christmas carols... enjoying the cold breeze with their friends. 

     Christmas, an event that most of the children awaits... the event where you can see the smiles on every face.

     All are excited, all are busy.
The houses are full of glory. The stars are brightly shining from above, watching every person celebrating the birth of Jesus.

     Christmas is near, the children are here. Singing loudly, dancing gracefully, laughing endlessly. The cheerful children that will complete every christmas.

The Right to be Different and Free

The Republic Act 9710 or Gender and Development (GAD) is for both men and women. It is concerned to both men and women and their roles, relationships, and expectations in the society. It is also to promote gender equality.

On the other hand, the RA 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC) is for the protection of women and their children. Those men who will abuse and disrespect women and their children will receive a punishment. This includes physical violence, psychological violence, economic abuse, and threats.

These laws aims to promote human rights and protect every human in the society. It can also help the society accept gender differences that will make the economy better.

CARE FOR NATURE, TO A SECURED FUTURE

     November is Environmental Awareness Month by virtue of Republic Act No. 9512 signed on Dec. 12, 2008.

     

     The law says the promotion of national awareness on the role of natural resources in economic growth and the importance of environmental conservation shall be done through environmental education. —Marielle Medina

     The environmental education is a good way to make the people be more aware about their surroundings. This will give the ideas and knowledge that they can use to save and preserve the beauty of the environment. This can help in maintaining the cleanliness of the environment. This will also give people the idea of importance of the nature where we get our needs. It can also be a way for the people to be more careful in their surroundings. 

     This will be a way to make the people unite and help each other in making, preserving, saving the beauty of nature that God has gave to us. Our actions will define our future. the future that we want to secure.

THE CHILDREN'S RIGHTS TO BE VALUED

     The celebration on the Children's Month is an advocacy that aims to make the lives of the children be better and improved their way of living. It is also to maintain the health of the children as they grew up. This celebration also aims to maintain the security of these children and be free from violence and abuse. This also aims to help the children make a good decision by their own,

     The theme for this year is “Karapatang Pambata: Patuloy na Pahalagahan at Gampanan tungo sa Magandang Kinabukasan.” This states that the rights of a child must be valued and be applied for the good future of these children. Each child has so many rights and these rights are not supposed to ignored and it should not be refuse to give to them. They deserve those and it is also their right to be free to do those rights as long as they are hurting no one.

     The 2019 Children's Month is an advocacy that will help the children have the voice to be free to do and have their rights as a children. This advocacy will help the children improve themselves and their way of living might change and be better. This might be also a way to help the children in the next generations. The children in the present will be the one who will continue this advocacy and the children in the future will also benefit.

A Healthy Family for Every Youth

     The Filipino Values Month is being celebrated by Filipinos every November. The theme for this year is Pamilyang Pilipino Patatagin: Susi sa Kabataang Maka-Diyos, Makatao, Makakalikasan, at Makabaansa. The theme is about making the families of the Filipinos solid. It will be the key in making the youth to be religious, humane, industrious or nature lover, and nationalist.

      It is important that every youth has a happy, solid, and healthy family. Their parents were the one who will guide them and teach them the right thing to do. In this way every youth will grow up knowing what is good, and this youths will be able to know how to be religious, humane, nature lover, and how to love his country. A healthy family will give the youth a good attitude. 

     This will be a step to make our nation solid, happy and helathy.

Year of International Indigeneous Languages

     United Nations is being celebrated every year. This is an intergovernmental organization that strengthens the nations and is responsible for maintaining international peace and security, developing relations among nations, and harmonizes the actions of the nations.

     This year is the year of International Indigenous Languages. This is to make the nation be aware about the importance of language. Language is not only used in our daily lives as a form of communication. Language can also show us the different traditions, cultures, history, and identity of a person.

     In this way, it will be easier for us to identify the traditions, cultures, and history of a country, and the identities and personalities of the people who live in a particular place.

WORK QUICK (Reflection)

     I realized that it is really good to work by myself and only ask help if it is really needed. I can discover some things by myself and try it to know more about something.

     This quarter (second quarter) gave me a lesson that it is not bad to have difficulty in some things, because it gives me motivation and it helps me in improving myself.

     
     Having a lot of school works make me panic, because I can't finish all of it in a short period of time. I am too slow to complete one activity and in order for me to do my tasks quickly I learn how to manage my time so that I will not panic in doing my tasks.


     Moving on, I will continue to manage my time correctly and do my tasks independently and as quick as I can.

     Every teacher has different techniques in teaching their students. They have their own strategies in catching the attention of students. They make their own way so that their classes will be fun, enjoyable, and comfortable.

    Being a teacher is one of the hardest profession. Teachers might have hard time in dealing with the students. They became the second parents of the students. They do many sacrifices for the sake of the students. They give the students the knowledge, wisdom, and hope that the students bring in their way to a successful life. They deserve to be loved, to be respected, and to be cared by the students

ISNHS Intramurals

     The trained students of Ilocos Sur National High School had a sports competition last September 13 and 14. The students competed according to what sport they are trained.

     To reduce the boredom of the students, there were some booths scattered around the campus that was prepared by the students of Ilocos Sur National High School from different clubs. They were visited by the students while waiting for the next game, or those students who roam around the campus and want to have a unique experience with their friends. These booths were facilitated by club officers. 

     Although some teams failed to win the competition, the intrams ended with satisfaction. The students had memories that will give them joy in their everyday living.

SCIENCE MONTH CELEBRATION

     The Science Club of Ilocos Sur National High School leads the science month celebration. the theme was "METABOLIZE: Nourishing the Filipino Youth Towards National Well-Being." There were many activities that were performed by students. Some of these are poster making contest, sci-tricks, essay writing contest, sci-fight, Binibining Kalikasan (a pageant), and more.

     Among all the activities Binibining Kalikasan was the center of celebration. There were many beautiful, handsome, talented, and confident contestants who joined the pageant. But not all of them are lucky enough to win the pageant.

     The month celebration ended with joy and memories among students and teachers during the science month celebration.

A Better and Enjoyable School (Happy Schools Movement)

     The Department of Education-Region 1 had launched the “Happy Schools Movement” to boost the efficient implementation of the K to 12 basic education curriculum in the Ilocos provinces. Happy Schools Movement in Vigan City was held at Vigan Convention Center (VCC)

The movement wants to make the students feel that every school is comfortable and enjoyable place to learn. This program aims to make the students be active in school and be responsible in attending their classes with the help of some educational tools that will catch the attention of students that will be use during classes and also assignments will be lessen.

     Happy Schools Movement will also help the students and also teachers know their do’s and don’ts. This movement may also be a way to lessen the number of bullying and abuse. In this case it will be easier for the students to be friends with others and it will be more easier to them to approach each other.

     According to an article from Tawid News Magazine, "Researchers confirm that a positive school climate can help decrease absenteeism, suspensions and bullying. Likewise, it increases pupils’ achievement and motivation to learn and improve their psychological well-being. This shows that it’s really more fun in school."

The Celebration of Vigan Solidarity

     Vigan Solidarity aims to strengthen the pride in history and culture of vigan. This aim keeps the 630 heritage structures in 18^th and 19^th century be preserve for a long period of time.


     Visitors may join the Repazzo de Vigan as a part of their adventure in Vigan. Repazzo deVigan is a parade that is participated by 39 barangays, specially students and members of non-governmental organizations. This parade is followed by Historia Oral. It is an opportunity to know more about Vigan's history, culture, tradition, and more.

    In celebrating their festival, there are different activities and competitions that is being held. An example of this is the choir and singing competition, where the contestants sang Ilocano songs as part of the celebration of the solidarity.


     The celebration of this festival will not be completed without foods. During the celebration of solidarity, there's always a food fair.

     The solidarity is a festival that shows the love of the Ilocano people to their culture and tradition.

     Ang Pilipinas ay may kabuuang 130 wika. Ang walo rito ay ang pangunahing wika ng Pilipinas. Ito ay ang Iloko, Sebuano, Bikolano, Waray, Hiligaynon, Pangasinan, Kapangpangan, at Tagalog.\

     Ang pambansang wika ng Pilipinas ay Filipino, at isa sa walong pangunahing wika ng Pilipinas ang naging basehan nito, ang Tagalog. sa kadahilanang maraming mga Pilipino ang nakakaalam ng wikang tagalog.

Another Realization

I learned that sometimes it is also good to study my lessons in advance, so that whenever my teacher will discuss it, I will understand the lesson. I also discovered that sharing thoughts and ideas to others can help me widen my knowledge.

        During the first quarter, I realize that sometimes it is  also hard to study by myself, but it’s fine because in this way I can improve my skills in reading and understanding my lessons. 

        I also forget some things after some discussions that makes me worry most of the time. To stop myself from forgetting things, I watch a video that will help me in reminding things faster. I also avoid spending most of my time using my cellphone for how many days, and discovered that some gadgets will affect the function of my brain if I continue to use my cellphone for a long period of time. Because of that I avoid spending my free time using my cellphone, that also helps me in maintaining my eye level.

        Moving on, I will study harder so that on the next quarter I will understand my lessons with the help of my teacher and classmates. I will try to remember the thoughts and ideas that are being shared during discussions and I will also share some of my ideas about the lesson to help others improve their knowledge as well.
       I will also use gadgets if needed to maintain my eye level, and to avoid memory loss.

Being resilient is being ready to every disaster that might occur. It is a very important characteristic that a person should have.

Disaster is an event that can destroy someone’s life, properties and more. We must be ready to the effects of the calamities that might happen. We must be prepared on the possible events that might occur. We must have enough knowledge on how should we act in times of an emergency. We must be up to date, for us to know if there are any possible coming disasters.

We might know when and where will a disaster will come but we will never know how strong and heavy it is until it comes. So, the best way that we can do is to be ready, for a better tomorrow, form a better future.

In the month of July, Nutrition Celebration is always celebrated. It is a month of realization about having a healthy lifestyle.

           Eating nutritious food is not enough to have healthy body. It must be balance with the help of exercising every day. One tip to eat in a health way is to eat go, grow, and glow foods every meal. This will give you a healthy body, and it will help you to avoid getting sick or having illnesses, and cure some diseases. In order to maintain this healthy lifestyle, junk foods must be avoided. Some of the worst foods are hamburger, fries, pancakes, ice cream, doughnut, chips, etc. eating less or much is unhealthy. It should be in the average level and it must be in the right time.

Being healthy is being wealthy. So eating and exercising with balance will help you to have a healthy body.

The Importance of Being Aware in times of Emergency

        The National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill is very helpful to the students and the teachers. This activity helps us to be more attentive and alert of our surroundings. It gives us ideas on how to be wise on how to prepare ourselves, and on what should we do before, during, and after an earthquake. It is a guide on how should we handle the different situations in times of emergency. It helps us to get ready of the possible events that might happen during an earthquake.

          However, this activity should not be held when the temperature is too low, because it will affect the human body that will cause someone to faint because of the temperature, especially in an open area that is direct to the sunlight.

          That’s what happened in some students who performed the earthquake drill.

Good day!

I am Angela Elaine Regua, a grade 10 student from Ilocos Sur National High School who had hard time in choosing what career path should I pursue on my tertiary education.

I would like to thank you for implementing the Secondary School Career Guidance and Counseling Act to help us in pursuing our careers. This act helps me to choose what career path will I pursue when I go to college.

It is really helpful to most students, especially to those who had and who are having hard time to choose what career path should they pursue in the future, like me.

I hope that the Career Guidance and Counseling Instructional Module will be done in the near future in order to help more students in pursuing their careers.
